THERE is something for everyone in Macao, whether you love historic sites, cultural celebrations, magical entertainment, interactive activities or tantalising cuisines.
With the opening of a waterfront attraction and three integrated resorts within a year, Macao is no longer just a day-trip destination but an integrated resort city and global hub for both leisure and business travellers.
Visitors of all ages can look forward to a new variety of family friendly activities to enjoy in the four new attractions:
Anim’Arte Nam Van
One of the city’s latest family attractions is Anim’Arte Nam Van, which has transformed the waterfront area of Nam Van Lake into a new landmark for leisure, culture and creativity.
Visitors can sail on the tranquil lake in swan-shaped pedal boats; shop for cultural and creative products designed by local artisans; explore the arts pavilion, graffiti display area and weekend craft market; and learn a new skill in one of the handicraft workshops.
On weekends, the area is abuzz with live performances that include costume parades, puppet shows, Portuguese jazz music, face-painting, balloon-twisting and stilt-walking.
Opened in October last year, Studio City is a Hollywood-inspired movie-themed integrated resort that offers an exciting array of entertainment, dining and shopping.
Visible from afar is the Golden Reel, the world’s first ferris wheel in the shape of a figure “8”, which is tucked high up between the resort’s twin hotel towers. Hop into this ride from the 23rd floor of the hotel and soar to great heights for a breathtaking view of the city.
Then join Batman to fight some super-villains on a pulse-racing flight and car chase through Gotham City on Batman Dark Flight, the world’s first DC Comics’ Batman 4D flight simulation ride.
Let your kids run wild in Warner Bros. Fun Zone, an interactive wonderland with rides, an action arena and picnic playground themed with popular Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera and DC Comics characters.
Be spellbound by jaw-dropping illusions performed by leading magicians from around the world at The House of Magic, a unique three theatre arena created by famous illusionist Franz Harary.
Shopping comes to life at The Boulevard at Studio City, where you can sashay down the high-energy streetscapes as though you are in New York’s Times Square and Hollywood’s Beverly Hills.
A star-studded mix of global renowned brands line the themed retail streets, where Times Square Macao lights up with futuristic entertainment from both real and virtual musicians.
Enjoy a gourmet journey at over 30 food and beverage outlets, including world-class restaurants, cafés and relaxed bars and lounges.
Live like a star in the art deco-inspired Studio City Hotel that has two distinct towers — the Celebrity Tower that boasts stylish comfort and classic elegance with cinematic touches; and the premium all-suite Star Tower that offers lavish suites and exclusive facilities.
Opened two months ago, Wynn Palace is a luxurious integrated resort that boasts a three-hectare Performance Lake with cable cars encircling it.
Every evening after sunset, the lake erupts into a spectacle of intricately choreographed musical fountain shows with a diverse repertoire ranging from Chinese and Western songs to operatic arias and musical numbers.
For a 360-degree view of the shows, hop onto the air-conditioned SkyCab cable car and enjoy an enchanting journey up close with the dancing fountains.
Floral themes play a major role in Wynn Palace, where the highlights include two large-scale floral sculptures — a carousel and a ferris wheel — that are constructed from about 100,000 real flowers each, and move in time to music.
Also on display throughout the resort are thousands of Western and Asian works of fine and decorative art — from the traditional to the whimsical.
Guests will be pampered with upscale resort living in this lavish resort, which has one of the largest spas in Macao, a vast variety of fine dining and casual restaurants and a shopping hub that houses many renowned retail names.
The Parisian Macao
No visitor to Macao will miss the massive landmark of The Parisian Macao — a half-scale replica of the 324m-high Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Officially opened just last month, this skyline-changing integrated resort brings the charming elegance and romance of Paris to Macao.
Every evening, light shows with music illuminate its Eiffel Tower, sending a kaleidoscope of colours dancing on the structure and casting a romantic glow over the resort.
To enjoy a bird’s eye view from the tower, book a ticket to ascend to its Observation Decks on Levels 7 and 37.
In this resort, you can shop on stylish streets that resemble iconic Parisian precincts such as the Champs-Élysées, and savour French and international cuisines at the sidewalk cafés, patisseries and bistros.
Enjoy romantic strolls in formal gardens or on cobblestone streets; and soak in the vibrant performances by street artists and mimes at The Parisian Streetmosphere.
The rooms and suites are all designed with signature, contemporary French flair, and families can enjoy recreation activities such as the Aqua World water park and Qube Kingdom Kid’s Play Zone.
And for state-of-the-art entertainment, catch one of the world-class concerts in the 1,200-seat Parisian Theatre.
