New Zealand's first pod-style hotel, Jucy Snooze, has opened at Christchurch International Airport. It features 79 rooms and 271 beds; with eight pods to a room.

Room rates start from NZ$35 (S$34.24) per night (per pod, which can accommodate one person). Each pod comes with charging stations, temperature control and storage net. There are also private rooms with en suite bathrooms that can accommodate twin- or triple-sharing in a family room starting from NZ$109.

Visitors to the Japan National Tourism Organization’s (JNTO) Japan Travel Fair 2017 can get a virtual reality experience of the country at the Japan Virtual Experience booth. Using Virtual Reality goggles, you can take in destinations like Shirakawago, Goshiki-numa and Aso.

Exhibitors include Japanese destination organisations, hotels, attractions plus Singapore travel agencies.

On stage, there is a a line-up of performances featuring Japanese artistes who will be flying in specially for this event. Highlights include Shamisen (Japanese traditional 3-stringed musical instrument) performance by Mr Keisuke Ito and Japanese candy craft demonstration by Ms Minori Baba.

Visitors can also stop by the activity booth to try their hand at Japanese arts and crafts like Chigirie (Japanese paper art), candy art, Kumihimo (Japanese braid making) and Kingyo Neputa (painting paper goldfish).

This JNTO fair will be held from Oct 6 to 8, 10am to 9.30pm, Takashimaya Square, Basement 2.

To tie in with the new Paddington movie, which will be released on Nov 10, the Belmond collection of iconic hotels, trains and river cruises has announced special Paddington Afternoon Tea journeys aboard the Belmond British Pullman, the train which has a starring role in the film.

Departing from London Victoria station on Dec 2 and Feb 16, the Belmond British Pullman will be hauled by a Peppercorn class steam locomotive Tornado, which also stars in the movie.

The pair do not usually travel together, but they will be joined for the Paddington journeys.

The package includes a menu of tea and coffee, savouries, sweet treats and, of course, Paddington Bear's favourite marmalade sandwiches.

Paddington-inspired activities will also be available on board for families throughout the journey.

Prices start at £550 (S$1,000) based on two adults and two children aged under 16 travelling together. For every full-paying adult, a child under 16 travels for free.

Additional children pay 25 per cent of the adult's ticket price.

More Emirates Flights To Stockholm

More Emirates Flights To Stockholm

Emirates has announced plans to introduce three additional flights a week to the Swedish capital, complementing its current schedule of daily flights.

The airline says the new flights, which will fly from Dubai to Stockholm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Dec 8, have been added to meet demand, particularly during the winter season.

They will depart from Dubai at 3pm and arrive at Stockholm Arlanda Airport at 6.45pm, timed to provide easier connections between Stockholm and a number of East Asian and African destinations.
